Fashion Revolution 2018
Tomorrow is the start of Fashion Revolution Week. It marks the 5th anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse where 1,138 people died and another 2,500 people were injured, making it the fourth largest industrial disaster in history. Most of the victims were young women. There are still so many people being exploited in the fast fashion industry today. The Fashion Revolution is a global movement campaigning for change; to improve the working conditions who make our clothes, to protect the rights of people who make our clothes and to protect them from exploitation. It calls for greater transparency in the supply chain in the hope that we will be able to see exactly the journey our clothes have taken.
There are so many ways that people can get involved-check out their website here. There are so many events going on across the globe-from talks by ethical clothing brands, to clothes swaps, to screenings of documentaries such as ‘The True Cost’.
I'm going to be getting involved on my social media sites as well as going to see the delightful Amber Butchart speak about her lifelong love affair with vintage clothing.
I cannot wait!
